About immigrants and their stories
The project “Of Immigrants and Their Stories” was born during the pandemic, when the lockdown prevented us from doing guided tours and events at the synagogue.
It consists of interviews with people over 80 years old to talk about family stories, migration, origin, or journeys in Mexico City that they experienced, as well as experiences in provincial cities.
Each one represents a different geography, different ideology, different experiences, so the collection, which currently has more than 70 interviews, shows the enormous diversity of those who make up the Jewish community in Mexico. A new interview is added each month, as they are conducted on the first Monday of every month.
These interviews are visual, including a huge number of photographs and documents.
They are recorded live, without editing, but they hold the value of a testimonial that remains. Many of the interviewees have already passed away, but their memories endure.
