I'm Joss Hernández, a comedian, improviser, and learning facilitator. I love connecting with people, discovering different ways of seeing the world, and sharing authentic moments. I do this on stage, in a workshop, or walking the streets of downtown.
Giving tours was a natural consequence: I want to tell stories, learn together with others, and honor my history as a Jewish person. Being here isn't something I take for granted. Every step we take is supported by those who paved the way, and it also leaves a mark for those who come after us. I believe that love, knowledge, and respect are ways to leave a better world.
That's why I invite you to join me on this tour: to discover what the streets of downtown Mexico City still have to tell, and what the history of the Jewish community in Mexico can teach us about belonging, memory, and the future.
After searching far and wide online for a Jewish history tour of Mexico City, I finally stumbled upon an article about Monica. I reached out and asked if she would set up a tour for my mom, cousin, aunt and me. I explained to Monica that my aunt is deaf and reads lips so it was important to have someone who would sign American Sign Language or who was expressive and spoke very clear English. Monica set us up with Joss on the two hour tour of the downtown area. My aunt, who typically avoids tours like this because it's always difficult for her to follow and feel connected, was so grateful and felt so enriched by the experience. Joss was an excellent tour guide who spoke immaculate English. He answered all of our questions as he walked us through the downtown neighborhood that was once vibrant with Jewish life. He is absolutely wonderful and we are SO happy we decided to take this tour. I highly recommend the tour and securing Joss as your guide!
